Higher Heights Private School is currently in Accreditation Candidacy with the National Association of Private Schools (NAPS), a national organization serving private Christian schools and a private-school accrediting organization recognized by the Texas Education Agency (TEA).
Our decision to pursue NAPS accreditation reflects a deliberate commitment to institutional accountability, academic excellence, continuous improvement, and the development of students who are prepared for success beyond high school.
Accreditation candidacy is not the same as full accreditation. Higher Heights Private School is currently completing the requirements and evaluation process necessary to pursue NAPS accreditation.
NAPS describes accreditation as a process through which an institution demonstrates that it is fulfilling its stated purpose with integrity and excellence. NAPS also emphasizes educational quality, academic success, character development, accountability, and the ongoing improvement of school programs.
Higher Heights Private School is committed to embracing these principles not simply as requirements for accreditation, but as standards that guide the way we operate our school.
As we progress through candidacy, we are committed to:
Maintaining a clearly defined educational philosophy and mission
Providing a structured and academically purposeful educational program
Promoting mastery of essential academic skills and college- and career-readiness
Maintaining appropriate academic records, transcripts, and student documentation
Establishing sound policies and procedures that support consistent school operations
Maintaining responsible financial and administrative practices
Promoting professional and ethical conduct among school leadership and staff
Maintaining a safe, supportive, and respectful learning environment
Regularly evaluating our educational program and identifying opportunities for improvement
Maintaining documentation and evidence demonstrating institutional effectiveness
Supporting the academic, personal, and character development of every student
NAPS requires accredited schools to demonstrate continued compliance with its standards, including maintaining evidence of academic achievement and school improvement. Higher Heights intends to approach these expectations as an ongoing commitment rather than a one-time accreditation project.
Higher Heights Private School believes that a private-school education should provide students with meaningful academic preparation for the next stage of their lives.
Our academic program is designed to emphasize academic rigor, mastery of essential skills, critical thinking, responsible scholarship, and preparation for postsecondary opportunities.
While Texas private schools operate independently from the state's public-school accountability system, the Texas Education Agency provides useful benchmarks for understanding academic preparation and student success. TEA's accountability framework evaluates areas including Student Achievement, School Progress, and Closing the Gaps, and its academic measures are designed to consider what students are learning and how well they are being prepared for success after high school in college, the workforce, or the military.
Higher Heights uses this broader educational framework as a reference point for our commitment to academic quality. We seek to ensure that our curriculum and instructional practices challenge students to demonstrate knowledge, apply what they learn, develop higher-order thinking skills, and build the academic foundation necessary for continued education and career preparation.
Our commitment to academic rigor includes:
College Preparation
Students are encouraged to develop the academic knowledge, study skills, writing abilities, quantitative reasoning, and critical-thinking skills necessary for postsecondary education.
Career Preparation
Academic learning is connected to practical skills, career exploration, technology, communication, problem-solving, and preparation for the workforce.
Academic Accountability
We believe students should be evaluated on meaningful evidence of learning rather than simply completing assignments. Coursework, assessments, projects, grades, transcripts, and other academic records are maintained as part of the student's educational record.
Continuous Improvement
We regularly evaluate our curriculum, policies, instructional practices, student outcomes, and school operations to identify areas where we can strengthen the educational experience.
For Higher Heights Private School, accreditation is not simply a designation to place beside our name. It represents our willingness to be accountable to clearly established educational standards and to continually examine how effectively we are serving our students and families.
We recognize that educational excellence requires ongoing work.
As we move through the NAPS accreditation process, Higher Heights is committed to building and maintaining systems that support:
Academic Excellence.
Institutional Integrity.
Student Success.
Continuous Improvement.
College & Career Readiness.
Character & Christian Values.
Our goal is to provide students with an educational experience that is academically meaningful, well-structured, Christ-centered, and designed to prepare them for the opportunities and responsibilities that follow graduation.
Current Status: Accreditation Candidate
